Poor Georgia just like it favorite son Stalin.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4156163748782234674.post-48222631072392481962010-10-02T04:02:31.575-04:002010-10-02T04:02:31.575-04:00Welcome to realpolitik. The EU will not do anything and considering its own internal problems, not the least of which is the Euro's weaknesses which will only get worse, certainly is not interested in provoking Moscow. The EU leadership is, essentially, Germany. Germany will not irritate Russia in which German companies have a huge investment and whose gas keeps Germans warm.

The US is distracted courtesy of the previous administration in two wars. Its only foreign policy for the past ten years is anti-terrorism - a stupid waste of time that is far better handled by excellent police work as has been the case. However, a grossly ignorant American public responds to headlines. Everything else is a bore. A prime example is the failure to appoint an ambassador to Ankara, arguably the most powerful force in the region and one that could provide some leverage against Russia's expansionist tendency.

In the end, Georgia needs to get used to doing without two regions. Considering that both are economic basket cases, they should try to concentrate on making what remains of Georgia - a not insignificant area with major cities needing development - a star of the the Caucuses.Richard Shepardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06756928408791129012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4156163748782234674.post-67932651656980411332010-10-01T14:33:16.814-04:002010-10-01T14:33:16.814-04:00It is clear when seeing the map. I am afraid, the EU as well as the US will abandon Georgia like abandoned Hungary in 1956, Czechoslovakia in 1968, German democratic republic, Polad and others, like they made nothing for Tibet and Eastern Turkestan. Small nations should disappear. It is in fact politics of a great Posthitler. My heart beats for these small nations. And what about you?PhDr Jaromir A. Masanoreply@blogger.com
